This Past Weekend

Saturday night we went to Elizabeth Hollis' wedding, a friend from high school. She was so gorgeous and the wedding was so beautiful!!

Then on Sunday after church my dad was riding on fumes!! With Charlotte/Rock Hill area short on gas he was unable to find any for a couple of days but contiuned to drive. We found out that the Wal-Mart right down the street had gas so my mom went and got him enough to get to the gas station...so funny!

Mary Kay Holiday Workshop

NSD Robin Rowland, me, SNSD Kathy Helou and SNSD Debi Moore

This morning I attended our area Holiday Workshop to learn new ideas to make this holiday selling season great. There were so many great ideas and great speeches made by directors. The displays that were set up were beautiful and I came away with my head full of ideas and ready to get to work. But, the highlight of my morning was the photo-op above. In August I sold over $2,000 and earned the opportunity to have my picture taken with these amazing National Sales Director...one of which is my very own National, Kathy Helou. I was able to briefly speak with her and she always gets energizes me. It is such a privilege to have amazing training almost every month in the Charlotte area and to be in the presence and taught by these National Sales Directors. I am pumped for Christmas...and it is only September. :)

Entering the Presence of Jesus

This morning around 5:30, my great-grandmother Cil went to be with the Lord. Stephen and I are so grateful to have gone July 4th weekend with my parents to see her for the last time. She has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately and we knew this time was coming. Not many people these days have the privilege of knowing who their great-grandparents are so I feel so grateful to have known my great-grandmother for all of these years. . We will miss grandmother Cil but are so thankful to know that she is with her Lord and Savior, her body is made perfect and she will not experience anymore pain.

I have a job!

So, many of you have heard my big news and are wanting to know details. Well, yesterday I got the phone call I have been waiting for! Here's a little background.

When I left BGEA back in June I started looking for work but got discouraged b/c the economy is so bad that I just decided I would work my MK business full time for a while. I have been home...working MK full time for about 3 months and I have really enjoyed it but I have just really missed being in a work environment. About two weeks ago, Stephen and I were talking and I told him that I was ready to get back in the work world. So, Stephen started making some phone calls and last week one of his previous co-workers referred me to a friend of hers who works for Hunter Hollis...a recruiting firm.

I met with Kim at Hunter Hollis on Wednesday...she said she thought she had a job I would be a good fit for. She called me on Thursday morning, asked if I would do a phone interview with the company...did the interview yesterday at 4:00 and at 6:09 my cell phone rang and Kim at Hunter Hollis told me I GOT THE JOB!!! We are so excited!!

I start work this Monday at SPX in Ballantyne...just about 10 minutes from my house. That in itself is exciting that I won't have a long commute. God is so faithful! We have been seeking him during this time in our lives and His timing is so PERFECT!!! And to get the phone call that I have a job on Stephen's birthday...that was such a GREAT gift for him!! :) I want to say THANK YOU to so many of you who have been so great this past wekk in helping me seek a job. I appreciate so many of you who have been praying for me...my parents, Stephen's parents, Jessica and Ben, and so many of my close friends...Your prayers mean so much to me.

So, there you have it. All Glory to God. He has taught us so much during this time in our lives. I said back in June no matter what happened, God would get the Glory. We have priased him in the dark days and we praise him for his faithful today. To God be the Glory, GREAT things HE has done!!!

Mighty To Save

As most of you know, I come from a very musical family and music has always been apart of my life. I love praise and worship music...and Hillsong is one of my favorites. One of their new songs, Might To Save is so amazing. I heard it a while back and then Wednesday night my dad had us sing it in choir practice. The words to this song are so rich. I just had to share it with you.

Happy Birthday Stephen!

Today is my sweet husband's birthday. Words can't even begin to describe what he means to me. I knew from the very beginning that I had someone special, and over the years he continues to amaze me. Stephen is the most caring, kind, southern gentleman...his mama taught him well. :) Stephen is my best friend, my rock, my shoulder to cry on...which has been quite frequent lately, my encourager and so much more. But more than anything, he is a man after God's own heart. Stephen, I am so thankful for you and pray that today is filled with many blessings. You deserve so much! I love you!!

Our Sweet Heidi

Today is a very sad day for my family. Last week we learned that our oldest dog Heidi had a tumor in her mouth and with her frail body (just shy of 15 years old) there was not much they could do. So, this afternoon my dad is taking her to be put to sleep. We knew this day would come sooner rather than later but it is still so hard. It has been a very emotional weekend for our whole family.

I was 12 years old when we got Heidi and she has been such apart of our family. As we reminisced this weekend about Heidi, one of our most favorite memories is Meredith (who was 5 years old when we got Heidi) would put Heidi in the basket on the front of her bike and road all over the neighborhood...it was the cutest thing, check out the picture below. Growing up in Florida we took many road trips to Knoxville to visit our family and Heidi would ALWAYS come with us. It was never an option to have someone watch her...she just always came. Seven years ago Heidi had a litter of 5 puppies which is where Gretchen, our other dog came from. It was so fun to have both dogs...they really were so great together. I remember many mornings when us kids would not get out of the bed, Dad would get the dogs and have them jump on the bed and get us up...we LOVED that!!! We always laughed about how we spoil our dogs...Stephen could and still can't get over how much we love on our dogs. Heidi and Gretchen have truly are apart of our family and as this day has come, I feel as if I am losing a family member. Heid has had a great life over the past 15 years and has brought our family a lot of joy.

Loving on my sweet puppy this past weekend

Happy Birthday Ben!

Today is my brother's 25th Birthday! Wow, as Stephen would say...he is half way to 50. :) Ben is only 2 years younger than me and for most of our lives we have done the same things, been involved in the same things and had most of the same friends...we even were engaged at the same time and married just 5 months apart. (So close that he married a Jessica...well, I made that up but it sounds good. :)) I love that we have always been so close. My brother is the most amazing guitar player, singer, and songwriter. His heart for the Lord is so pure. He is such a great man of God and I am so proud of the man he has become. Ben, I love you and am so proud to be your big sister. I pray you have a wonderful birthday and a great coming year.

Captivated by You

Over the past year I have become a huge fan of Vicky Beeching. She has such a gift in writing and leading worship. As I was working in my office today I was listening to her and the song Captivated by You played. It was everything I have been praying, praising and worshiping to my Lord...I am so captivated by Him. I love how music can speak to your heart. As Pastor Steve preached on Sunday, music is not worship alone but I truly beleive that lyrics of a song can take you to the foot of the cross. It can stir in you worship to our King. These lyrics have been my praise of worship all day so I thought I would share them with you. (If you unmute your computer you can hear Vicky singing.)

Your laughter it echoes like a joyous thunder
Your whisper it warms me like a summer breeze
Your anger is fiercer than the sun in its splendour
You’re close and yet full of mystery
Ever since the day that I saw Your face
Try as I may, I cannot look away, I cannot look away…

Captivated by You
I am captivated by You
May my life be one unbroken gaze
Fixed upon the beauty of Your face

Beholding is becoming, so as You fill my gaze
I become more like You and my heart is changed
Beholding is becoming, so as You fill my view
Transform me into the likeness of You

This is what I ask, for all my days
That I may, never look away, never look away…
No other could ever be as beautiful
No other could ever steal my heart away
I just can’t look away…
